MATERIALS AND CARE

Please review our care instructions with every purchase you make, so that your SUNSHINE pieces maintain their shine!

Diamonds

A diamond is rare and complex; each diamond has characteristics that make them unique and enduring no two diamonds are ever alike. A diamond is the hardest natural substance known and is resistant to deterioration. Like any precious stones, diamonds should be handled with care. Daily wear and tear may cause nicks, abrasions, and surface scratches. To maintain your diamonds, monthly and annual maintenance is recommended.

Care

  • Store all diamond jewelry separately in its own pouch or compartment within a jewelry box.
  • Prevent diamonds from rubbing against each other to avoid abrasions.
  • Diamonds attract dirt and grease easily, dulling their brilliance.
  • Keep diamonds consistently clean to maintain their brilliance.

Clean

  • Clean diamonds regularly using an organic jewelry cleaner or a soft-bristled brush, warm water, and detergent-free soap.
  • Take diamond pieces to a professional jeweler for deep cleaning and prong inspection every 6 months or annually.

FINE 24K, PLATINUM, 18K, 14K GOLD

Gold has an extraordinary heritage with unique qualities. Gold is resistant to rust, tarnish, and corrosion. Although gold is very strong, it's also the most malleable of all precious metals. Platinum, 24K and 18K yellow gold are recommended for those with metal allergies, as it’s hypoallergenic with minimal to no metal reactions.

24K GOLD

is composed of 99.9% pure gold (99.9), which makes it extremely soft. Due to the softness, we recommend that you wear each piece with care and awareness.

* 24K gold, which is the purest form of gold available. One of the unique characteristics of 24K gold is its exceptional malleability and softness. While this purity gives the gold its beautiful, rich color and luster, it also means that it can be more prone to scratches and dents compared to lower-karat gold alloys, which contain other metals to increase their hardness.

These scratches are a natural occurrence and a testament to the pendant’s high quality and purity. To keep your pendant looking its best, we recommend handling it with care.

PLATINUM

is usually 90-95% ( 900 or 950) pure, one of the most durable and densest precious metals.

18K GOLD

is composed of 75% gold (.750) and 14K gold is composed of 58.5% of gold (.585) with other alloys such as nickel, platinum, pallidum, silver, copper, and zinc to make it strong enough for everyday wear. Deciding the carat of gold that is right for you all depends on your lifestyle and how you care for your jewelry.

JADE

Jade has a rich cultural history and unique properties. Known for its toughness and durability, jade is one of the hardest natural gemstones, making it resistant to scratches and wear. Despite its strength, jade is also highly valued for its smooth, polished surface and rich, vibrant colors. Unlike many gemstones, jade has a silky texture that feels cool to the touch. With proper care, jade can last a lifetime. Jade is also considered hypoallergenic, making it a safe choice for those with metal allergies, as it doesn't react with the skin.

Care

  • Grade A: Jade has only been surface waxed with no other treatments.
  • Grade B: Jade has been enhanced to improve transparency and color.
  • Grade C: Jade has been artificially stained or dyed, often losing transparency and showing imperfections.
  • Store jade in a cool place, in soft cloth bags or the original box, to protect from daily elements.
  • Avoid hitting jade on hard surfaces to prevent fractures, chips, or shattering.

Clean

  • Polish jade with a microfiber cloth from time to time or rinse under lukewarm water and pat dry.
  • For a deeper clean, use mild soap and water (8oz water + mild soap), gently wipe the jade, rinse, and repeat as necessary.

SUNSHINE TIPS

All precious metals scratch. It’s a natural part of everyday wear. To remove scratches, take it to your trusted jeweler to properly polish your gold jewelry. To maintain your jewelry, the jewelry should be the very last thing you put on when getting ready, and the first thing that comes off when you come home. Do not wear your jewelry when you are doing physical activity or household chores using harsh chemicals.
