Plate Your Piece for that Flawless Finish
Over time, even the most lustrous jewelry pieces can lose their shine due to wear and exposure. If your treasured pieces are starting to look dull, or even discolored, plating them is an excellent way to restore their original brilliance.
In the jewelry plating process, a layer of precious metal is added on top of the existing metal to give a fresh appearance along with protection from tarnish and wear.
Whether you’re looking to rejuvenate an old heirloom or a recent piece, the SUNSHINE team can plate your jewelry’s metals for a pristine, flawless finish. Visit us for a complimentary consultation and experience the world-class service that sets us apart.
I had contacted the seller for help with picking a necklace for my needs. I lost my best friend, my cat, around December and am having a pendant made with his ashes. The seller helped me with all my questions and sent me many pictures so I'd be sure on my purchase. We ran in an issue with the delivery but again amazing customer service provided by the shop. I will be back for more purchases! Thank you guys again for all your help and compassion ❤️
Jennifer W.,
Warm and inviting jewelry store with great customer service. Went to Sunshine Jewelers to look for an updated band. Not only were they extremely patient and kind, they allowed me to customize my band based off of a design I saw online. Muy and Laila provided me with updates on the progress and a quote that was extremely reasonable. The end result, I absolutely loved the way it came out! I never want to take it off. Their attention to detail and the craftsmanship is top tier. A huge thank you for creating an heirloom that I can pass down to my children that is not only timeless but also great quality.

Aleena and her sister Laila were amazing!! They were so patient and kind with me. I got my ring custom made and they paid attention to all the details that I requested. I absolutely love my ring! Thank you so much! ❤️

Jewelry PLATING FAQ
Jewelry plating is a process by which a thin layer of precious metal is added onto the base metal of a jewelry piece.
The end result of replating is a smooth, lustrous finish on your piece, that protects it from tarnish and makes it look as good as new.
Plating is a maintenance procedure that’s done on a periodic basis, as the original plating of a jewelry piece is subject to wear and becoming dull or worn off.
Note that when it comes to plating, there are a few different options for what you can plate your jewelry with. At SUNSHINE, we can plate your jewelry with yellow gold, rose gold, or rhodium to preserve its shine and longevity.
All different sorts of fine jewelry pieces can be plated. This includes rings, wedding bands, bracelets, earrings, and so forth.
Pieces that receive more wear and exposure, like rings, will have their plating worn down faster, and as such will need to be replated on a more frequent basis.
How often a piece of jewelry should be plated depends on its type, how often it's worn, and the thickness of the original plating.
For pieces that experience a lot of contact and wear, replating may need to be done every 1 to 2 years to maintain their appearance. For pieces that are worn less frequently or receive less physical contact, plating can be done less often.
We can plate most pieces within 1-2 days. If you’re on a timeline, get in touch with our team to see how we can work within it.
Absolutely! While most gemstones aren’t affected by the plating process, our team will take all the necessary precautions needed to ensure that your piece and its precious stones remain protected and secure.
Rhodium is a precious metal just like gold. It’s known for its brilliant white shine and durability.
When it comes to jewelry made out of white gold - rhodium plays a crucial role. This is because white gold itself is an alloy of yellow gold, meaning it can sometimes have subtle, warmer hues. While still beautiful, it may lack that pure, ice-white appearance.
Rhodium plating helps transform white gold, to give it that fresh, mirror-like luster that’s come to define white gold jewelry pieces.
In addition to enhancing its looks, given Rhodium’s incredible hardness, it gives an added layer of protection to the piece. This helps it become more resistant to tarnishing and getting scratched.
