Safeguard the Gems of your Jewelry.
Coming with different styles and configurations, the prongs on your jewelry piece go much farther than just adding an aesthetic touch. They are the components that are responsible for cradling and securing your precious gemstones in place.
With wear, it’s inevitable that these tiny claws will become worn down, which will compromise their hold on your gemstones.
If you find that your gemstone has become loose within the grip of your piece, or that the prongs have lost their original look and luster, it’s time to consider having them retipped or repaired.
At SUNSHINE, our master goldsmith has over 20 years of experience in repairing prongs of all types on all kinds of pieces. Whether your piece’s prongs need simple retipping done, or is in need of a more complex rebuild, we invite you to get in touch with our team or to visit our showroom in Philadelphia and Media to see how we can help.
I had contacted the seller for help with picking a necklace for my needs. I lost my best friend, my cat, around December and am having a pendant made with his ashes. The seller helped me with all my questions and sent me many pictures so I'd be sure on my purchase. We ran in an issue with the delivery but again amazing customer service provided by the shop. I will be back for more purchases! Thank you guys again for all your help and compassion ❤️
Jennifer W.,
Warm and inviting jewelry store with great customer service. Went to Sunshine Jewelers to look for an updated band. Not only were they extremely patient and kind, they allowed me to customize my band based off of a design I saw online. Muy and Laila provided me with updates on the progress and a quote that was extremely reasonable. The end result, I absolutely loved the way it came out! I never want to take it off. Their attention to detail and the craftsmanship is top tier. A huge thank you for creating an heirloom that I can pass down to my children that is not only timeless but also great quality.

PRONG RETIPPING FAQ
The prongs on your jewelry are the tiny claws that are responsible for securing your gemstone in place.
Retipping is a procedure where gold is added to these tiny components, to ensure that their structural integrity is intact, and that they’re working at their best in holding your gems.
We recommend prong retipping as part of your jewelry’s periodic maintenance. Not only does it keep your piece looking and functioning at its best - it’s also a much more affordable and stress free alternative than replacing your gemstones should they ever fall out.
We can repair bead prongs, round prongs, and claw prongs, in a variety of different configurations - 4 prong, 6 prong, and so forth. While we do repair heart-shaped prongs, due to their unique design, the repair process involves reshaping them into bead prongs.
If you have any questions regarding your particular piece, feel free to get in touch with our team to see how we can help.
Whereas prong retipping involves adding material to existing prongs to bring them back to their original looks and integrity, prong rebuilding is a more comprehensive procedure where prongs are rebuilt from the ground up.
This is a procedure that is required when prongs are damaged beyond just normal wear and tear.
As long as the piece in question has prongs, and they’re made out of precious metals, we can retip or repair them. This includes rings, pendants, earrings, and so forth.
Retipping your prongs will enhance the look of your piece. As prongs become worn down from life’s activities, they can not only lose their grip on your stones, but become faded and dull in the process.
With a retipping procedure, your prongs will be restored to their original shape and strength, giving your piece a refreshed and polished appearance.
We can retip most prongs within 5 days or less. If your prongs are in need of a rebuild, depending on the complexity, the lead times can be longer.
Prior to any prong retipping procedure, we will be sure to outline the lead times with you, and try to work within any time restrictions that you may have.
