Very few places left that offer this kind of speed, service, or affordability. Aleena and their team of experts are wonderful. My ring, of 21 years, recently broke. If you know me, you know the sentiment that it holds. Not only was it fixed, it looked as new as the day my father gave it to me. Before I start crying, please go into this establishment with respect and know that the quality you'll receive is greater that their longevity. Again, thank you for all your kindness (and my little gift bag) !

Thank you Laila and Aleena for the awesome experience. Couldn't be more satisfied with the effort you made to customize a jewelry piece. A unique experience that never happens in conglomerate jewelry stores. I love how involved Laila was from start to finish and how Much focus is put on to customer satisfaction. Me and my wife are so thankful for your patience and your skilled staff. Will definitely come back and highly recommended.

RING RESIZING FAQ
Resizing a ring differs slightly depending on sizing up or down, but both are generally straightforward procedures:
Sizing Up Sizing up involves making a singular cut into the band and then expanding the ring’s circumference using a ring stretching tool. Once expanded to the desired size, the space in the band is filled using a perfectly or closely matching alloy. The result is a ring of larger diameter with little to no evidence of a resize.
Sizing Down
This procedure is similar to sizing up, but in this case, two cuts are made in the band and a piece of it is removed. The space left by the removed section allows the two open ends to be pushed together, reducing the ring’s diameter. Like with sizing up, the finishing touch here is to solder the ends together with a matching alloy.
At SUNSHINE, after each resizing process, we perform a meticulous cleaning of the piece, which includes a complimentary buff and polish. The end result is a perfectly fitting ring with a professional finish.
Since we perform all resizing projects in-house, resizing a ring typically takes no more than a week to complete.
Please note, that if the ring in question requires more complex work to resize, the turnaround time may be longer.
Before any resizing project, we will be sure to go over the lead time with you. If you have any sensitive time restrictions, we will do our best to work within it.
In the majority of cases, resizing a ring will leave no noticeable marks on it. However, note that this does depend on the ring’s metal composition.
During the resizing process, we make incisions on the ring’s shank and use metal alloys to join the ring together when either increasing or decreasing its circumference.
In instances where the ring is made out of a common alloy, we can create a perfectly matching joining alloy to produce a flawless finish at the soldering joint.
In instances where the ring is made out of a unique alloy, however, sourcing the exact metal mixture to match the original hue at the soldering joint may be impossible.
In these scenarios, we use an alloy that matches closely to the original. Nonetheless, as we try to match the original hue as much as possible, nuanced differences may be present at the incision sites which may result in a faint mark on the band.
During your resizing consultation, we will be sure to go over expectations and outcomes before proceeding.
We can resize rings made out of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. While this covers most rings, there are some rings made out of other metals we can’t resize, like tungsten or titanium. These metals possess physical properties that make resizing them almost impossible.
With regards to settings, we can resize most styles. Like with metal types though, there are some rings with setting types that make them impossible to resize.
Such an example is the tension setting, whereby the ring’s gemstone isn’t held by prongs or a bezel, but rather by pressure placed by the band. Altering the band in these settings can compromise the tension needed to cradle the gemstone. Due to this, resizing rings of these settings is typically not feasible.
If you have a ring that you’re unsure about resizing, our team stands by to help consult with you on its resizing possibilities. Give us a call or bring it by our showroom and we’d be happy to help.
The number of sizes a ring can be changed up or down really depends on its design. Rings without a lot of gemstones, especially around the shank, usually don’t pose a challenge to resizing multiple sizes.
That being said, we usually don’t advise changing a ring to more than two sizes bigger or smaller. This is to ensure that the ring’s structural integrity is kept intact so that it remains durable for daily wear.
